HURST CYCLE TRADING CHARTS
The yellow circles on the charts were generated by eyeballing the charts and
clicking the mouse on three positions. Simple math calculations in our custom
software (available as training software with a book purchase) then projected the price and time that the current swing would likely end and drew the yellow
circles onto the charts. JM Hurst was an aerospace engineer. In the early 1970s he wrote a book
called the "Profit Magic of Stock Transaction Timing" in which he
detailed a method for trading the short term cycles on exchange listed stocks. I
bought my copy in 1982, and learned many years ago that the real value to
Hurst's work is not in uncovering or proving cycles, but in using the cyclical
information that's already present in almost every exchange listed stock,
futures, commodity and forex ticker.
JM Hurst was very thorough in his presentation. The appendix of his book is rich with technical references and examples of the rocket math he used to uncover cycles. It's good stuff but you don't need it if you apply Hurst's techniques in a way that he never shows you in his book. Perhaps he thought it too simple. You can reproduce these results in almost any charting program, or in Excel, with simple math. Maybe the yellow circles won't plot automatically in Excel but with a little knowledge and little effort you can gain an extraordinary technique for forecasting price and time turning points. We show you how in our book "J.M. Hurst Cycle Trading without the Rocket Math." | |
